Privacy Policy

WÜSTHOF takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance both with the statutory data protection regulations and the provisions of this Privacy Policy. The use of our website is usually possible without providing personal information. Where personal data is collected on our website (e.g. names, addresses or e-mail addresses), we use these only to the extent necessary for the performance of the contractual relationship. We use your personal information exclusively for the internal purposes described above. We do not share your information with third parties. Please note that e-mails are not a secure form of communication and their contents are not protected against unauthorised access by third parties. We therefore recommend sending confidential messages by post.

All of your personal information stored with us will be immediately and permanently deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, unless we are required to retain it by law. If we are obliged to keep the data, it will be permanently deleted at the end of the legally prescribed retention period.

You are also entitled to request information, at any time, about the personal information we have stored about you. You have the right to delete, block or correct this information. To do so, or to request more information about our Privacy Policy, you can contact us at any time via the address in the imprint.

SSL encryption
This website uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of sensitive content, such as the search queries you send to us in our capacity as the site operator. An encrypted connection can be identified by the appearance of “https://” (rather than “http://”) as well as a padlock symbol in your browser’s address bar. If SSL encryption is enabled, the data you submit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Cookies
Some of our web pages use so-called “cookies”. Cookies do not harm your computer and do not contain viruses. Their purpose is to make our services more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are saved by your browser and stored on your computer. Most of the cookies we use are so-called “session cookies”, which are automatically deleted after your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies allow us to identify your browser the next time you visit. You can configure your browser so that you are informed about the storing of cookies. You also have the option to enable cookies only in individual or specific cases, or to generally disable their use and activate the automatic deletion of cookies whenever your browser is closed. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of this website.

Google Analytics
We use the function “Activate IP anonymization” on this website. As a result, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states that are signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will your complete IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the website operator, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports about website activity and to provide other services related to website activity and internet usage for the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the scope of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by configuring your browser software accordingly; however please note that by doing so, you may not be able to use all the features of this website. You can also prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the WÜSTHOF website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in that is available via the following link (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en). Alternatively, you can prevent the collection of your information by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be stored on your computer which prevents the future collection of your data when you visit this website: Click here to opt out of Google Analytics. More information about Google Analytics and privacy is available at http://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/analytics/

Facebook plug-ins
We use so-called social plug-ins provided by the facebook.com network, such as the “Like” button. These plug-ins are provided and operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA, and clearly marked with the Facebook logo. When you visit a page that contains such a plug-in, your browser will connect to Facebook’s servers. The content of the plug-in is then transmitted by Facebook directly to your browser and displayed in our online environment accordingly — we do not have any control over the plug-in’s content. Two-click solution for embedded content: by default, WÜSTHOF embeds deactivated buttons that do not make contact with the servers of Facebook et al. The buttons only become active and establish the relevant connection when users activate them and thus give their consent to the communication with Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Google+. Users can then submit their recommendation via a second click. If they are already logged into their chosen social network, this will be submitted to Facebook and Google+ without another window opening. Please note that if you are registered with Facebook or have recently visited a Facebook page or accessed Facebook content, Facebook may be able to track your visit to our web pages and associate it with your Facebook account. If you actively use plug-ins (e.g. by clicking the “Like” button), the corresponding information will also be transmitted from your browser directly to Facebook — again, we have no control over this process. For more detailed information about the nature, purpose, scope and further processing and use of your data by Facebook, please refer to Facebook’s privacy policy, which also contains additional information about your rights and options with regard to protection of your privacy. If you do not wish Facebook to associate your visit to our web pages with your Facebook user account, please log out of your Facebook user account.

Instagram
Features of the Instagram service are also integrated into our web pages. These features are provided by Instagram Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA, 94025, United States. If you are logged in to your Instagram account, you can link the contents of our web pages to your Instagram profile by clicking the Instagram button. This allows Instagram to associate your visit to our web pages with your user account. We wish to point out that, as the provider of the web pages, we have no knowledge about the contents of the transmitted data or its use by Instagram. For more information, refer to Instagram’s privacy policy: http://instagram.com/about/legal/privacy/ .

YouTube
Our website uses plug-ins from the YouTube website, which is operated by Google. The site operator is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. By visiting one of our web pages on which YouTube plug-ins are enabled, you will be connected to YouTube's servers. The respective YouTube server will receive information about which of our web pages you visited. If you are simultaneously logged in to your YouTube account, it will be possible for YouTube to associate your browsing behaviour directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account. For more information about how YouTube handles user data, please refer to the YouTube privacy policy at: https://www.google.de/intl/en/policies/privacy/ .

Issuu
This website uses the web service provided by Issuu, Inc., 131 Lytton Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94301, USA. Issuu uses so-called “cookies”, text files which are stored on your computer and make it possible to analyse your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is generally transmitted to, and stored by, an Issuu server in the USA. This transmission takes place if you have enabled JavaScript in your browser. You can prevent the use of cookies by configuring your browser software accordingly or installing a JavaScript blocker (e.g. www.noscript.net). For more information about how, and for what purposes, Issuu uses the collected information is available on the web site of Issuu Inc. at http://issuu.com/legal/privacy .
